: OEM version are forever tied to the FIRST PC it is installed onto. You
were
: not entitled to move the HP OEM version.
:
: The only recourse the OP has is the full retail version.
Read for content, not what you think I wrote. I bought a NEW OEM that had
never been installed on any machine and installed it on an OLD HP. I did
*not* move an OEM from one machine to another. I bought the OEM at a
national computer chain in Spain. In Spain, one does NOT have to buy
hardware to buy an OEM XP, be it Pro or Home. Also, most retail stores in
Spain do not even carry retail versions due to the lack of demand I suppose
(who would want to pay extra for the same thing?). If you don't believe me
and you can read Spanish, please visit these two national computer chain
stores and see if you can find a retail version of *any* MS OS:
