I have exact same problem as medragon has below. I have clicked all the
pertinent "buttons" etc. and the stupid language bar does not appear anywhere

Well, sincerely hoping not to seem cute or anything like that, is it that
you do Not have the MS Office Suite installed? The Language bar is a part of
that software. If so, you might do a "Detect and Repair" option, available
on any of the office apps Help menus. If I remember right, the Language Bar
is a part of all of them.

No, that's fine...you don't know if I am an idiot or not. However, I do have
Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003. It has the whole entire
package of apps available. I am assuming it should have the language bar
feature as it indicates over and over how to make it appear. I did the
detect and repair and it still did not appear anywhere--not on the
desktop---not on the taskbar---and not in any of the apps. I am at a loss.

There is a setting to disable the language bar:
"Regional and Language settings" applet in control panel, Language Tab,
Details button, Preferences, Language Bar button, is there a check in the box
to "turn off advanced text services"

Nope. No check in that box.

I'm thinking it must be some driver, or volume control problem. The Language
Bar uses the Mic, and possible something is out in the sound card, or other
hardware involved in that. I would test things like mic, speaker, cables,
and so on.

Tested everything. It all seems to be fine. I don't have a clue why the
language bar will not appear but at this point, I don't care anymore. It is
not worth the trouble. Thank you for your assistance.
