LAN is unidirectional to this computer

I recently rearranged my computers and now the other computers
can see this (Win2K) computer, and this computer sees the internet
via our Router/switch OK, but cannot send to/from the other computers.

I get the message: <<Workgroup was not accessible. The network
path was not found. >>

When I communicate to/from this computer from the other (XP) computer
I must enter a password, after which there is no problem.

So two questions:
1. How do I make the path visible from this computer.
2. Can I eliminate the need to enter a password to communicate
between computers?

Thanks,
E-Jo

Try rebooting the router/switch they are plugged into. Are you running
DHCP? If you could post the ipconfig information from the win2k computer and
one of the xp computers it would be helpful. To eliminate the need for a
password, you could add guest or everyone to the list of users allowed to
access the shares and files on the win2k computer. This does however allow
anybody to connect.

Thanks for responding, Eugene.
1. I unplugged the router and there was no change after turning it back on.

2. No DHCP server.

3. What is the ipconfig data you want and where do I get it?
Local Area Connection Properties show the following checked:
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- File and Printer Sharing for same
- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

The interesting thing is that I have no problem with internet access
even tho the other computer is the cable modem host, and I can
get files from this computer from the other (XP) computer.
Also, it says that the connection is working properly (?)

When I open the Local Area Connection Properties dialog it
tells me that at least one protocol must be installed.
But then when I click the TCP/IP protocol I get a network
connections error:
<<Could not add the requested component. The error is:
0x8004A021>>

Does this tell you anything?
Thanks,
E-Jo
