Keep getting error 720 on dial up connection

Hello all,
I am trying to help a friend set up PeoplePC online on his computer. He is
running XP Home without sp2. After loading the PeoplePC software we try to
connect and the modem dials and connects, the user name and password are
verified then we get the error 720 "No PPP control protocols are configured."
I have called PeoplePC about this twice and they have me go throught the same
setup and tell me a higher Tech will call which they never do. I experimented
and added IPX/SPX/NetBios to the network connections and enabled it then I
get error733. I have tried everything I can think of including reloading the
OS, uninstalling and reinstalling the modem drivers, even removed the modem
and installed a different one. All with the same results. If I have posted to
the wrong area please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any assitance.
