kb823980 Setup Error Installing Security Patch

I successfully downloaded the KB823980 Security Patch but
get an error on installation. KB823980 Setup Error. Setup
could not verify integrity of file Update.inf. Make sure
the cryptographic service is running on this computer.

Sony made the laptop but couldn't solve problem in 2 hrs.
on phone. On hold another 30 minutes with MS. Can't
believe no one can resolve. Please help if you have any
resolution to this. I have made sure the cryptographic
service is enabled. Still won't install. Have done this
on other computers successfully after fixing virus with
Symantecd's virus removal tool.

Please try downloading the patch for KB824146 instead. This includes the patch for the Blaster worm and does not have the same update.inf trouble that KB823980 had. If this fails as well, run the following commands at your Run prompt in Windows

regsvr32 softpub.dl
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dl
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dl
regsvr32 sccbase.dl
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dl

Restart the computer and then try again. Hope this helps.
