JVC DVF21 and Windows XP...Plug In and Nothing Happens!! Help!!

I recently built a computer (biostar M7NCG motherboard, AMD Athlon XP
2500, 1 Gig RAM, Windows XP Home OEM). I cannot get the computer to
recognize my JVC camcorder at all. I have updated everything I knkow
to update (i.e. bios, windows, video software...)

I'm trying to capture the video for use with video editing software
(either JLIP 3.1 that came with the camcorder, or Adobe Premiere 6.5
that I bought when I built the system).

When I plug in the camera, nothing happens...nothing at all. The IEEE
1394 port shows up under device manager and shows working properly.
Microsoft, JVC, and Adobe have been ZERO help! Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brad

No help, just sympathy - I have the same problem with my
Canon dv camcorder - no software or drivers provided for
video - just the photos, and no help from MS or Canon.

John,

Thanks for the response, let me know if you find any feasible
solutions. My latest attempt is with an Atech Pro9 all-in-one card
reader with firewire support (firewire's on the front of the computer
with the card slots!). It is currently $39.99 at Tigerdirect.com.
I'm going to attempt a capture with this device, only to import it to
Premiere 6.5 as an Mpeg. We'll see if that works.
