jpg's

I created a couple of new folders on my desktop and i wanted to put new
icons on them. the ones i wanted to use are .jpg files. when i click on the
one i want it just tells me there are no icons in this file. so how can i
change .jpg's so i can use them as icons?

You need a graphic application that can convert/save them to .ico files.

Thanks for your help Brian. I'm really feeling smart today! lol how do i use
irfanview to change the extension? I looked everywhere but where it really
is! i just can't figure it out. could you please explain it to me like i'm
10 yr old so i'll understand ti.

Sure thing. Don't kick yourself too hard.

Open the file in Irfanview.
On the menu bar click File > Save As.
In the Save As Type box click the dropdown and select ICO - Windows Icon.
Save it in a folder where you don't lose it.

Brian, just wanted to let you know i followed your directions and it worked
perfectly. Thanks to you i'm feeling a little smarter now. lol I wamted to
let you know how much i appreciate all your help. i think i've got your
directions down pat but i printed them out just to make sure i can do it
again!! Really thanks for your help i would never have done it with it.
