JPG file inserted in Office 2003 cannot be viewed by office 97-200

Hi,

i have a compatibility issue here. in my office, we used different version
of ms office. lately we upgraded certain staffs to Office 2003 but then when
they inserted .jpg file onto the spreadsheet or ppt. some of the pictures
could be not viewed by lower version of MS Office. they only can see the BIG
CROSS sign.(only apply to certain .jpg file. Even their windows also could
not open the file by using IE or etc.

normally the office 2003 user have to re-saved the file from MSpaint. then
only inserted the .jpg onto spreadsheet. in such, the lower version user only
can view it.
it is not a good practice as we do not know how to identify which file could
be opened and which is not.

i tried to down upgrade and save the file to 97-2003 version but still
having the same problem.

Please advice.

Regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew

I don't know if this will help but I recently had a similar problem with a
workbook created in 2007. The workbook had a couple of helper macros which
would be removed before the final release. On opening the workbook in earlier
versions if te user selected to "disable macros" then the formatting was
messed up and all pictures were unavailable. Removing the macros removed the
disable/enable prompt and all displayed just fine.

May not be the solution to your problem, but you never know.
