Jobs stop printing on Server

We have multiple printers shared from out print server,
which is a Windows 2000 Server machine.

It's set to keep jobs when they have been printed, this
is due to working in a school and needing to have
evidence of abuse.
Every week we go through and clear out all the old jobs.

The thing is, if there's a lot of printing done,
sometimes nothing else will print until the print queue
is cleared. Why is this, and is there any way to set it
to auto clear when this limit is reached?

You might be running low on disk space, you could try moving the spool
folder to another drive if you have one.

The drive has 13.5Gb free.

The spool directory at the moment contains 800-900 jobs,
totalling 200Mb.
There is definately never enough jobs to fill 13Gb.

Thanks for the idea though.
