Japanese Language support under XP pro SP2 -> Need your Help !

Hi,

I have an issue with my OS. I own an English release of Windows XP pro SP2
and I run applications in French and Japanese (and of course English).

I have installed the East asian languages package but the japanese
characters are still not displayed properly under several application
(including Internet Explorer).

I find a trick to fix this issue:
I manually go under control panel>regional and Language Options>Advanced

Then I select "Japanese" in language for non-unicode program.

After one reboot my japanese character are well displayed but the French one
aren't.
Moreover some special characters are turned into japanese (such as \ that
turns into ¥)

Help Needed !

Hello Jack.

Unfortunately, Advanced option ("Language for non-unicode ...") works in
only one language.
When you change it, you have to re-boot Windows.

BUT

There is some work around you want to try.
Please refere my page.
http://masakik.freeservers.com/
Please go to (3.2)

It is called "APPLOCALE" from MS.
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx

You set Advanced option to "English" (well, You don't have to... ),
Then use this program to call your application. (use Japanese for French for
language option)
This should solves your problem.
If you like it, you can create short cut for them.

I know it is not good solution. But at least you have some control for it.

Good Luck!
Matt.

Thank you for your answer, MattK, I will try applocal as using the unicode
japanese option mess the characters in standard English programs.
