Type Asian Characters in English XP Pro

Subject: Type Asian Characters in English XP Pro

I am trying to type Japanese Kanji characters in English Windows XP Pro
with US Input Parameters/keyboard. I have enabled the East Asian
Options under Regional settings and can thus display asian characters
from Japanese websites. But for the life of me I cannot select any of
numerous Japanese fonts I have installed and type in Word/Excel/etc.

Really all I'm after are the numeral characters.

Anyone with some hints?

Windows XP and the Pro in Office.

Does your IME work? Can you get the insert char functions to work within

It's Office XP Pro.

It won't work with the fonts I have installed, but using Jim's Kanji it
does. I think that it's a different problem than fonts at this point.

Nope my news reader converted them to 0x3F's

I was able to use Jim's Kanji Fonts finally, but I have to type them in
using the Alt<3-digit> input method which is quite tedious...
