I've lost my system sounds

All of a sudden, I have no more system sounds. Device manager show
everything to be ok, Windows Audio service is started (I stopped an
started it again - no difference). Playing music through my speaker
using the sound card works ok, but no system sounds, no icon in sy
tray, etc. I don't get it. Is reinstalling WinXP Pro rhe onl
solution here? Help! Getting very frustrated

Hi selmer68,

Open the Control Panel. Go to Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure that
the option to Place volume icon in the taskbar is checked. Next click on
Sounds and check the Sound Scheme, selected.

Also have you tried Windows System Restore?

System Restore did the trick! Had to go all the way back to June 10.
Thanks so much!!
