Issues after Service Pack 2 update

I downloaded SP2 and after doing so, I am unable to open my internet explorer
or programs such microsoft word. When I launch either, they open and close
really fast. I disabled my firewall and virus software and tried again,
still no luck. Windows firewall was also disabled. Any ideas?
