CONNECTION PROBLEMS AFTER INSTALLING SERVICE PACK 2

My partner's parents have recently installed service pack 2 and it
slowed down the performance of their computer considerably.
They also have problems connecting to the internet through AOL9.0.
They have disabled the Windows Firewall in an attempt to connect to the
internet, but this does not work either. Other programs keep crashing
when being used too.
Any suggestions?

With SP2 some networking utilitys must be reinstalled,try add remove
windows components,you'll find some boxes are greyed out after SP2,re-
check them.After/also,open cmd,type:netsh Winsock reset
