Issue with printing to printer

D

Dan

I have a computer at home that has a printer connected to it from the
parallel port and that is shared. I also have another printer connected via
a printserver. I want to be able to use my work laptop to print to these.
How can i go about doing this even though my work laptop is part of a
different domain.

You don't say what operating system is installed on the home computer that
has the printer shared, nor on the "work laptop", so I'll assume that they
are all Windows 2000 or XP.

The "printserver" attached printer is probably the easiest - see
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/Printing to Print Server device.htm.

For the "shared" printer on the parallel port you should be able to add it
to the laptop as a Network Printer:
1. start the Add Printer wizard
2. select the Network Printer radio button
3. select the "Connect to this printer..." radio button (the middle one)
4. key \\HomeComputerName\PrinterShareName (you have to know the name of
your home computer and the Share Name of the printer)
5. press Next
6. you will probably get a box asking for a username and password - key the
username and the corresponding password that you use to logon at the Home
computer with

The printer should work OK.
