Issue During Startup

The problem i have is before windows starts. I helped install windows XP on
my friends computer after it died, and his wouldnt boot from the CD. So i
used my computer to install it, telling it to install it on his connected
drive.

The process was interrupted, but later we managed to get everything to work.

Heres the problem i have now.

When i boot up my computer, it goes to a screen that asks me to select which
operating system i want to use. It gives me the following.

1) Windows XP Proffesional Edition
2) Windows XP Proffesional Edition

Use the Arrow keys to move the highlight ..... etc.

The first option has a 0 second timer (that gives me 1 second) to make my
choice.

If i leave it at one, it tries to boot from the CD (thats no longer there)
and install windows.

Option 2 starts my working Windows version.

So what can i do so that it never goes to that screen and just starts
running windows like it normally does?

So far what i have done is delete the setup files that installed, but it
still does this, im guessing i either have to delete something else or theres
some obscure thing in the control panel that will have to be dug through to
fix this.

Right-click on "MY COMPUTER" Icon on your desktop and select:
Properties >> Advanced >> Startup and Recovery Settings >> Edit

Make sure to select the First line and delete it from the Boot.ini as this
the incomplete installation of XP.
Which in your case this line:
|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect

Save your changes and close the open windows then Reboot your machine. Does
it help?
