Hi,

(I asked this Q some time ago in ADO group, unfortunately
without the answer)

I'm using Borland C++ Builder as a development tool, and I
use ADO to access various data storages, mainly *.mdb.

I noticed that on maybe 2% of PC's, ADO is somehow
damaged. Updating (repairing) MDAC with "mdac_typ.exe"
which is available on MS site for free download always solves
the problem, execpt when the user has SP2 installed, when the
"mdac_typ.exe" cannot be executed at all.

That's because it would be considered as downgrade.

Is there a way to repair MDAC on XP/SP2 ?

If youre sure its corrupted reinstalling SP2 might be the only solution.
To verify, download CC (component checker),from downloads or msdn.Thier
are MDAC 2.8 service packs also, but xp SP2 might be more current.

That's a good tip. I never tried to reinstall the SP2 only
but now I can try.

See the Repair section.
You receive an error message if you install the downloaded version of
Microsoft Data Access Components version 2.8 to a Microsoft Windows XP
Service Pack 2-based computer
