iPod/USB problem

I recently downloaded my ne wiPod software and used my iPod for the first
time today. When I went tried to plug it in today to recharge the battery, it
said my device wasn't recognized. When I clicked trobleshoot, I got this
message:

No drivers are installed for this device

How do I fix this problem so I can use my iPod? I've exhausted every
suggestion on Windows troubleshooting for problems with USB ports.
