IPOD and USB EXT HD Problem

I have win XP
I have Ipod Connected to Comp with USB Port
I added external Hard disk Thru USB port
The minute I connect this hard disk to System My Ipod Stops and windows
gives me message that unrecognised USB device (IPod) present.The Hard disk
works fine.
Once i Disconnect the hard disk USB Port .IPOD works fine.
Any Suggestions?
So I can use both at the same time!!

I had the close to the same problem, only when i put attached mine it
wouldn't recognize the Ipod and it froze up the Ipod. I ended up returning
it and getting a new one which worked perfectly fine.
