Ipod not visible in device manager

I recently bought an Ipod Nano,when it is connected via the USB Port It does
not appear in either Device Manager or in my computer. The help file suggests
that there is a fix available for this, can anyone tell me where to get this
from?

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A SANDISK MP3 PLAYER AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. MY
COMPUTER WAS ALSO UNABLE TO INSTALL MY PLAYER DUE TO A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. WHAT
SOLUTIONS IF ANY HAVE YOU FOUND?
