This depends on how you have configured your network.
Usually XP installs without an IP and expects a DHCP
server to assign an address when connected to the
network. There are several ways to "see" the assigned
address in XP. The easiest, found on all versions of
windows, is to open a command prompt window (start
programs accessories). At the prompt, type in
ipconfig /all and hit enter. You will see all of the
TCP/IP info configured for each network adapter enabled on
your computer.
