After i click a few links Internet Explorer stops responding. When I shut it
down and restart everything is okay for a few links. It will then stop
responding.

Widows XP and Internet Explorer are the latest versions and are kep up to
date.
I have run numerous virus and spyware scans. Nothing shows up.

What type of links are you clicking on? Are they links that you had to open a
file or dload a program? Do you have pop up blockers, internet
security/firewalls?

You said you've ran an anti spyware program already? Have you used AdAware to
scan your system? This program is good. My thought is that there's a spyware
imbedded into your system that's trigerring IE to freeze up. If you've tried
that, check your security options in IE and see on what defaults you have...
Let me know what you find out.

Hi,

I ran AdAware. I noticed something interesting. I double clicked a desktop
shortcut. It hung. I noticed a Iexplore process running in task manager.
After ending this process the shortcut page came right up.

Also run spybot, install and run in safe mode as a double check.
