Hotmail Connection Problem

C

Coloraken

When I click on the Hot Mail link, I get the following error message:
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I'm signed in to Widows
Live. Something is preventing me from accessing Hot Mail (Qwest Mail) and I
don't know what. I'm using WindowsXP with all the latest updates. This is a
sporatic problem that occasionally corrects itself; but I would like to know
how to correct it.

Are you running WinXP SP2 or WinXP SP3? Are you running IE6, IE7, or IE8?

HOW TO Optimize IE for Windows Live Hotmail
[NB: There are separate sections for IE6 and IE7 (incorrectly titled
"Windows Explorer 7"); the IE7 section applies to IE8]

Thank you for your prompt response. For the record I was running SP# and IE8
as I try to keep my computer current. I have made a copy of your response so
that I'll have the appropriate links.

Now to address the problem: I was checking all my firewalls, anti-virus,
etc programs; and where it was available to accept programs, I tried to make
Windows Live, Hotmail, etc. acceptable.

Then on a whim, I signed out of MyMSN site; and then resigned in. This
apparently corrected the problem (hopefully for good).
