Internet explorer problems

I have used Internet Explorer with my Windows XP for a few years now. This is
the first time I have had any problems with it. The problem is when I start
up Explorer; the window will pop up with a blank screen for about 2 seconds.
Then the Message that Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to shut
down. So I click send report and all is closed.
Now the kicker, I can try to start it again 4 or 5 times in succession and
with out closing the message window and it seems to work fine. So I just
slide the message windows to the side and go to work. I have tried after
being on line for a while, to send the error report hoping explore would not
close with not success. I have also tried to just close the message windows
after being on line a while and same results.
I have Firefox on my computer and there seems to be no problems with getting
on line with it!

Go to Start/Run, and type: REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL Then open IE, Tools menu,
Options, Program Tab, and click the "Reset Web Settings" button.

Note also that IE7 has a memory leak (it keeps taking and taking memory but
even after exit does not give it back to the system) that incresing makes it
take longer to load pages. This can also result in the problem you are
encountering (MS errors have never been very informative). As you noted FF
works fine. Time to use FF and the IE Tab plugin.
