Internet Explorer Keeps Crashing

E

Ed\(NY\)

In the last week. I get an "Internet Explorer needs to close" error message
most times I open it - this has almost never happened before. I've already
tried restoring to an old restore point with no success.

The error details include a reference to ModName: urlmon.dll

Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

Thanks.

You're still running IE6 apparently. Note that this article applies to
the "urlmon.dll" crash as well:

I am also continuing to use IE6
Today, I received an update from MS:
"Update for Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP (KB946627). Install
this update to resolve an issue where Internet Explorer 6 crashes when
you try to visit a Web site. This issue occurs after you install
security update MS07-069 on Windows XP Service Pack 2 only. After you
install this item, you may have to restart your computer."
I think this may be the clue to your problem.

Note that this update may not appear if the registry setting according to
the posted article KB942367 has been applied manually.
