Internet connection wizard password cant be saved

I set up my earthlink account in IE 6 so I can use the
connection wizard to connect. I entered my User name and
password. Then before I clicked Connect I tried to check
the Save Password box. It lets me do that but then when I
try to connect the next time, the password has not been
saved. There are the dots to show that a password has been
saved but it is longer than the original so it won't
connect. Essentially I have to re-enter the password every
time I connect to the internet and it is a hassle.I think
that i have some sort of Security setting wrong but I
can't find what. please email me at larim5038 at earthlink

the dots are not the proper length for security to not
guess the proper password.
blank it all out and redo the connection and such and maybe
it will remember this time.
