Internet Connection Problems after upgrade from ME to XP

My Dell product hard drive crashed and I installed the XP
product (from the Dell computer) to my Compaq 1200 laptop
(which has ME) in the interim. When I try to open my
default web site on internet explorer I get a "cannot
find the server" message. This sure seems weird and I
haven't figured how to fix it. Help!!!

You have not provided any information about how you are trying to connect or
about your network configuration.
 
i connect using a cable modem, not sure about network
configuration, thanks, help!
