i know that win98 had microsoft chat and or winpopup, 2000
you have to go to a cmd prompt and use net is there a
easier way for my uers.

Windows 2000 Professional ships with a GUI chat application named winchat.exe. For
more information read the 8 topics in Chat Help (C:\WINNT\Help\winchat.chm). Also,
see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article. Note: even though it is written
for Windows XP, it also applies to Windows 2000.
