Intellipoint 6.02. Why do MS make it so difficult to install/uninstall their software?

MS have released new Intellipoint 6.02 which I want to install. MS optical
mouse 4000. XP+SP2 and all patches.

Running the setup causes an error message which says it is already installed
and must be uninstalled before re-install. There is no uninstall link and no
uninstall facility within the partially installed software. Running setup
from the root does not work just says uninstall first.

Catch 22. Cannot uninstall or re-install so what do MS suggest?

Any other mouse software that I have used comes with an uninstall feature as
standard so what am I to do MS?

Microsoft has not officially released Intellipoint 6.02 as it is still in beta. That web site should have said it was beta.

Thank you Carey but how do I uninstall the partly installed software.
Deleting it does not work and trying to reinstall 5.5 fails because it says
a later version is installed.
