I get the following message and installation then
terminates: "Set-up could not verify the integrity of the
Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptograhic service is running
on this computer."
I also tried downloading from the MS website and was
never able to see the total # of updates to be
downloaded. It would also ask for permisssion to then
download each update.

Hi

Your Cryptographic Service is most likely running fine, renaming or deleting
the Catroot2 folder is most likely what you need to do to solve the problem.

Take a look here:

The Catroot2 problem can be avoided in the future by installing Q817287.

Rename the folder windows\system32\catroot2 and reboot. That will
generate a new, clean folder, and you can then delete the renamed one.

Then get - only - Q817287 and install it, which should now be OK. It
is the cure for the problem: you should then be able to carry on with
other updates, and the problem will not recur

Thank you, I'll try it.
