Installing Windows XP over an already installed Windows XP version

I have windows XP Professional SP2 installed and running. Now I have learned
that I had obtained a pirated version and obtained the Windows XP
Professional SP2 Original as a CD. Question: How do I install XP over my
running version without hurting my present Windows XP configuration and
especially the installed and configured programs on my machine?

With the Windows Genuine Advantage, you are probably getting messages saying
you are a victim of software counterfeiting.

Which means the product ID for your Windows installation has been basically
"black listed".

To fix this, you can download the Windows XP Product ID Changer from this link
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/purchase/UpdateInstructions.aspx

and update your product key with a Legitamite product ID!

Thanks

Hi Robert!
First of all I would like to thank you for your effort!
Yes I realize that I could do what you are proposing (costs 139,00 Euro...I
live in Germany). But I ordered the SetupCD instead (costs 165 Euro) for too
many reasons to go into here. My question remains: How do I install over my
current Windows XP Professional (SP2) configuration with the setup CD?

Thanks again.
