Can I use Windows XP Pro Installation CD to re-install Windows XP

Hi,

My friend has a Windows XP Home Edition PC which she needs to format and
re-install Windows on but she hasn't got the original CD. If I use my Windows
XP Professional CD to re-install the O/S will her XP Home Edition Product Key
work in activating Windows. If this can't work. How can I go about getting a
replacement CD with XP Home Edition on it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No it wont work.
You need the exact same version of win, which you dont have - we wont get
into the OEM aspect
If win was supplied with the PC, then for a replacement you would need to
contact the PC supplier/manufacturer
If the product key is on a sticker on the PC case then its 99% certain it
was supplied by the PC maker
If no disks were supplied with the PC then its likely there is a hidden
partition containg the recovery files & probably instructions on how to
create the cd's
