Fresh Install.

(1)I am ready to do a fresh install of my Win XP operating system.
I understand that after installing Windows there is a way to set
msconfig to stop all unnecessary background operations for the best
environment when installing additional software. What is the procedure?
(2) My Windows XP is a very early version. I have both service
packs 1 and 2.My SP2 is on a cd obtained directly from Microsoft. Will
I need to install SP1 first before installing SP2 or can I just install
SP2 and get the desired installation?
(3) Is there a posting anywhere detailing a fresh install to
obtain the best results ?

Thanks, Lee

Do you have a specific application that needs certain background operations
turned off? I have found it unnecessary to turn off anything more than AV,
applications are designed to install without doing more than closing open
applications.
You don't need to install SP 1 before SP2. SP 2 includes everything in SP1.
You will need to download and install all the critical updates since SP2 was
released.
