Install Win XP over Win 2000

I want to install a full version of Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 over a
PC running Windows 2000 Professional.

However, on the XP software box, it is indicated that it may be installed on
a PC running Windows 95 or earlier, or no Windows at all. Therefore, I am
worried that it won't install properly, although I do not understand why it
wouldn't, since XP is an later version of Windows that Win 2000.

Could someone confirm that this installation won't work, or otherwise. If
it cannot work this way, I was thinking of simply reformatting the C drive in
order to get rid of Windows 2000 before installing XP. Would I run into
serious problem if I did that?

Thanks to anyone who can help me on this.

You cannot upgrade Windows 2000 with XP Home, you would need XP Pro. In
order to install Home Edition you will need to format your hard drive.

DL,

I thank you for your quick reply. That answers my question perfectly.

Much appreciated!
