Installing windows security updates

Operating System: Windows XP Home 2001
version.

Message Body: Unable to install most recent XP security
downloads. They download successfully but early in the
intall process I receive the message below. All I need is
some direction in overcoming this block to
installing security updates. Am I missing something?
Error Message Text:"Windows could not load installer for
MEDIA. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance."

Well, I contacted Gateway - they weren't any help.

Find the catroot2 folder and delete it.
