XP, IE7 running slower after recent security updates

After installing the recent Windows security updates I noticed that Windows
XP and especially Internet Explorer 7 run slower than it has in the past. I
have restarted Windows XP and it continues to run slow. Internet Explorer 7
slowly renders web site where Firefox v2 is much faster. I've noticed a
general slowness to Windows XP when it runs various programs where these
programs opened faster.

Did Microsoft do something in the recent security updates to cause this
slowness?

Has anyone else noticed this odd behavior after installing the recent batch
of security updates?

Thanks.

Hi, Mark, yes, I do also after an expensive upgrade to INtel core 2 duo
6300+mb Asus P5l-MX+120HD +2GB Kingston memory and I expected that my pc
would work like a bullet while it as slow as a stone. After the new hw+sw
installation of WinXP SP2 + IE7 and MSOffice 2003 my pc is as slow or slower
than it was with the old config of INtel Pentium 4 1,8 and 512MB memory. The
problems I have besides slow start of programs slow save of files are: the
screen turns blue in the middle of work (office work with word, excel, power
point, outlook, acrobat 8.0) or the pc suddenly auto-reboots and then I
getthe message "your pc has recovered from a serious errors. pls send error
message to MS.", applications show constantly error messages. I was told that
it's an installation problem, I have got three diffrent technicians to
reinstall to no avail. Can any one suggest something? I read tonight all
posts to see if I can find something relevant.
