Installing the Fax component for Windows XP

I have configure the fax service -- but when I get to Start/All
Programs/Accessories/Communication/Fax and Fax Console. Once I click on Fax
the box is [empty] there is no fax console to select. What do I do now? I
have DSL -- could this be causing the problem? Any assistance will be
appreciated.

Unlike most dial-up modems, a broadband modem is not capable
of connecting to fax machines, so you cannot send or receive faxes
directly. Fax uses analog signals and broadband is based on digital.

In order to send and receives faxes, you'll need a conventional fax modem
with a live telephone line attached. You cannot use broadband unless you
use a web-base fax service, such as eFax:

Or consider purchasing a conventional fax machine and connect it to your
phone line.

My problem is that when I try to SET UP FAXING I receive an error msg saying
to insert my Windows Home XP CD. My hard drive died last week & the store
installed the software and I don't have a back up or restore disk at all.
How can I get my faxing back???

Give the store a call and tell them to send you
the CD used to install Windows XP. It belongs
to you if you paid them to perform the work.
