Installing full version XP over ME

I have a Pentium III running ME. Is it possible to install a full version of XP-Pro over ME without reformatting the HD? (I received a full version XP as a prize, didn't have a choice for the upgrade version.)
 
If it's a "Retail Full Version", it will upgrade over Windows ME.
However, if it's an "OEM Version", then it cannot upgrade and
must be installed on a reformatted drive.
