Windows XP Pro Install Question

E

Ed Haney

I am going to install win XP pro on my home PC. I have
win98SE on there now and do not want to reformat my HD
again to install the new OS.
Will the Full Version install over Win 98SE with out
reformatting or Do I have to use Upgrade to have this work
out? I have not bought the new OS software Yet but Full
version seems to be less expensive than UpGrade versions.
Thank you for the help, Ed

Yes, You can install XP over Windows 98SE. Buy the
upgrade version. You don't need the full version. When
installing Windows XP will see you have a former version.
If you were to format the hard drive and install clean
with an upgrade version of XP, you must make sure you
have an original Windows 98, ME, 2000 CD-ROM. Windows XP,
when installing clean, will ask for proof that you own a
former version.
