All MSI installers will no longer work on my XP SP2 system.
I have had NAV corp and Trend Micro on my system. Thinking it was a norton issue I have removed both, but still get
this error. I have no idea if its related or not. All I know is that no MSI installers work.

For starters, run the MSI association fix from
http://www.doug-knox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

If that doesn't work, set the Windows Installer Service to Manual to
automatic. Does the following command work? (Replace C:\MsiFile.msi with a
proper installer):

msiexec /i "C:\MsiFile.msi"
