Inserting NUMPAGES field in 2007

I'm still a rank (and somewhat rankled) beginner in Word 2007.

In 2003, the Header/Footer toolbar had an icon for inserting the { PAGE }
field, and a separate icon right next to it for inserting the { NUMPAGES }
field, which I usually changed to { SECTIONPAGES }.

I often have documents in which the previous editor hard-typed the number of
pages (Page { PAGE } of 11) instead of using the second field. Is there an
easy place to find and insert the { NUMPAGES } field? Or do I always have to
erase the entire line and re-insert it from the Design - Page Number -
Current Position - Page X of Y sequence? This four-step obstacle course seems
awfully awkward to someone who's used to having the option available right
there on the screen every time you opened the header or footer.

Thanks

Just type NUMPAGES in the header/footer, select it, and press Ctrl+F9. Or
press Ctrl+F9 to insert a field and type NUMPAGES in it. F9 to update.

As an aside, I, too very much miss the simplicity of the Header and Footer
toolbar, with the Insert Page Number, Insert Number of Pages, Page Number
Format, etc., buttons.

Thank you. I'm glad it's not just me.

In that case, is there any way to suggest to Uncle Bill that he include that
functionality in the next update to Word?

Unfortunately, I'm on a government computer at work, and all add-ins and
downloads are strictly controlled by our IT department. :(
