Insert Slide number

George Wilson

I am currently using PowerPoint 2002 on a Windows XP
system. I have a presentation that has the number area
deleted from the master slide. When I check off show slide
number in header/footer nothing shows up. I tried placing
a text box with a slide number inside but it is still not
showing up properly. Is there any way to restore the
number area in the master footer?
TIA
George

Try going to: View | Master | Slide Master | Insert | Slide Number

I tried that, but the original slide number text box was
removed from the slide master so it is not being
recognized as the slide numbering box.

George might first have to go to Format/Master Layout to restore the number
area. Then go to Insert/Slide Number.

Try View/Master/Slide Master then Format/Master Layout. Restore the slide
number area from there.

Thanks Echo

George might first have to go to Format/Master Layout to restore the number

I am doing a beginners course and was told yesterday to use normal header/footer from the insert menu for this . It did put slide numbers on for me with no problems

Yup, that definitely works -- as long as you haven't deleted the placeholder
for the numbers on the master slide. I'm betting George's master has had
that placeholder deleted.
