Initialize Junk Mail Filtering and MSOE.DLL could not initialize

G

Guest

I get the following back to back errors when trying to start Windows Mail:

"Windows Mail could not be started initialize junk filtering. Your computer
may be out of memory or your disk is full (0x80070002)" after I click OK then
I get

"Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized"

I am running Norton Security Online provided by ATT/Yahoo. At first there
were no problems with Norton running. I had to reinstall Norton and then got
these error messages.

Can anyone help??

Norton and McAfee antivirus programs are known to cause problems with
Windows Mail, although usually not immediately. You may have to
uninstall the Norton program, install the download often recommended
here for Windows Mail problems, and then see if you need to do more
to fix the problem.

I don't have Norton or McAffee and I have the same error message. Is there a
way just to get the bad file back? I have AVG as my antivirus program.

Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and
Norton security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled,
not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

I don't understand your reference to getting "the bad file back."

Have you tried it after uninstalling AVG?

I just uninstalled AVG, and it didn't remedy the problem. About the "bad
file back". It says msoe.dll can't initialize. Would I be able just to get
that file and paste it over the current one?
Do you have any other ideas?

That error message is not very helpful. There probably is nothing wrong
with that msoe.dll file. Basically it means that Windows Mail can't start up
because of severe database corruption.

At this point your best course of action is to upgrade to the Windows Live
Mail program: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

I am having this same problem. Up until yesterday all was well. Now I get
this error message. Do I assume that this windows upgrade to get.live.com
will work in windows vista? I wouldn't want to download yet another program
that won't work.

So, am I understanding this correctly. Windows mail is corrupted and I will
NEVER get what I had stored there back? I can use WIndows live but cannot
ever use windows mail again. This is not good. Surely there is some way
to get what I had stored in windows mail back.

Not to worry. When you install Windows Live Mail it will automatically
import all your Windows Mail accounts, settings, and emails.
Also, it does not delete anything. You can always go back to Windows Mail
if you want.

cebridge.net doesn't seem to have put instructions for setting up to use
their email servers on their web site. You may have to ask them for such
instructions:

the incoming mail server is pop3.cebridge.net.
