Incorrect Frame Rate When Capturing Digital Video

Using Canon MV20 digital camcorder through a 1394 firewire card. Using
Windows Movie Maker in XP Professional with Service Pack 2. Instead of
capturing at 25 fps (PAL) it is capturing at 30 fps and video is all garbled.
Problem only arose after converting from Millenium to XP. This camcorder
worked OK with Millenium and Studio DV Plus.
Problem also apparent with Studio 9 running under XP on same machine.
Video captured prior to upgrade plays back and edits OK with both Windows
Movie Maker and Studio 9.
Windows Device Manager recognises Canon camcorder and 1394 card and reports
all working properly.
Any thoughts?
