Importing OL2000 mail to OL2003

Hello,

I am going to be getting a new PC with which has Office XP Pro with Outlook
2003. I am moving up from a Win98 machine running Office 2000 and I have a
question.

I want to know what I have to do to get all my mail from Outlook200 moved
over to Outlook 2003.

I was thinking of all the options there might be and which one is best. I
could simply export my OL2000 to file then import into OL2003, maybe copy the
Outlook 2000 .PST file and move it over to the new machine or some other
better way not mentioned above.

If You could walk me through the best way that would be great. Thanks

Microsoft has a free tool called Personal Folder Backup. You should be
able to use it to backup PST and then move it to the new PC without
having to go through "Local Settings\Application Data\...". There are
also commercial software that will help you to backup Outlook stuff.

If you 'Import' you will lose modified dates. This may be important to you.
Once you've copied to new pc the pst, and ensured read only is off, then
within OL open the data (pst) file.
Do not overwrite any existing pst, the pst can be located anywhere on your
sys hd.
