OL2000 -> OL2003

Hello,

I'm setting up a new PC w/ OL2003 on it and need to transfer the following
from a previous PC running OL2000 (both are in "internet email" mode only) -

1) email settings - although OL2000 can "export" it appears that OL2004 can
not "import" the account settings files. Is there a fix or workaround for
this?

2) personal folders - is there a way to copy the OL2000 files to OL2003?

3) rules - same here, i'd like to copy the rules from OL2000 to OL2003

If it's necessary to tweak the registry or otherwise muck around I'm
comfortable with that.....

Thanks in advance!

Not sure about the first one -- I've heard that some folks have exported
their account info to Outlook Express temporarily, then imported back into
Outlook once they have Outlook reestablished. There are also "Save My
Settings Wizards" in some versions of Office and Windows that may transfer
account info. You'll have to play around with these or do some more
research, I'm afraid -- I've never actually tried these methods myself,
since I only use 2 e-mail accounts with Outlook and it's pretty easy to just
redo them :)

For the others --
2) Just open your old .PST file in Outlook 2003 via File | Open | Outlook
Data File. It will open in your Folder List and you can copy or move info
to the new .PST file as you wish. Outlook 2003 has a new format for .PST
files that is not backwards compatible, but it's also capable of creating
the older style .PST files so if you ever need to use your data in an older
version again, make sure you use the old format.

3) You can copy your .RWZ file to the new machine and import it into the
Rules Wizard in Outlook 2003. Starting with Outlook 2002, rules are stored
within the .PST file rather than in a separate .RWZ, but you can still
import from and export to .RWZ files when needed.

Look at the following two articles for help with this -- one is a primer on
Outlook files, and the other gives instructions for moving to a new Outlook
2002 (or 2003) machine.
