Import Video from digital video camera format choice

Hello, I have a MiniDV camcorder and a 60 minute tape I want to capture to a
..wmv file and stream using Windows Media Services.

I have about 5 videos already on the deployment point which has links from
our intranet site and there format is 320x240, video is 327kbps and a 42
minute video is about 145 megs.

When I try to capture this video on my new Vista Business computer with
movie maker it shows 3 format types:

Windows Media Video ( single file ) and ( multiple file ) 2 GB per hour
Audio Video Interleaved ( single file ) 13 Gb per hour

I am wondering how can I record straight from the MiniDV to a .wmv file in
the specific format I want, it doesnt seem to give more granular choices..

Any help would be much appreciated..

thanks!

doing it in XP is an automatic two step process... it first builds a
tempoarey DV-AVI file, and in it's spare time the computer makes the wmv
file from the temp file.

in Vista you need to do the 2nd step manually, taking the captured DV-AVI
file and converting it to your desired WMV.
