Accessing Separate Sections of Video from One Tape

I finished recording my first tape on my new MiniDV camera (my first digital
camera). I imported the entire one-hour tape onto my computer using Windows
Movie Maker. Now in the Collections section of Windows Movie Maker it has
the video split up into individual segments (based on when I pushed Record
and Stop during my initial recordings). However, when I go into the folder
the video was saved under in Windows Explorer, it just has the entire hour of
video in one 13 GB file.

I want to be able to delete some of the segments of video that I don't want
to keep, but how do I do that if it only saved the entire hour as one file?
If I delete some segments from the Collections section of Windows Movie
Maker, what will happen. I want the segments that I keep to be in an
uncompressed format.

FWIW...if you wanted to import the movie
in one clip...just uncheck "Create Clips"
on the Movie Maker Import screen.

Anyway...

Drag the segments you wish to 'keep' to the
timeline in Movie Maker and Save the video
file as DV-AVI.

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...
