IMAPI cd burning service

hello all -
under what circumstances does XP need this service?

I set it to manual, but it always starts up when Nero
Burning Rom is in use.

I though IMAPI was only used if XP's internal
burning system was used?

Can you go in more detial please...
If you look at windows services by entering
services.msc from the RUN box, one of the services is
called IMAPI cd burning service. I have it set to manual,
which means "start this service when it's required".

I had noticed that this service started when I burn with NERO,
and I'm asking whether this is to be expected, since I thought
this service was associated with XP's internal burning mechanisms
only...

It is only for that. But if on a manual startup will probably *start*
once things discover the existence of a burner, and find nothing to do
because recording on that is disabled. Set it to Startup type -
disabled. Nero will be quite happy without it

Thanks Alex - I'm gonna try that.
