I'm getting a black screen

For many web addresses (e.g., www.usatoday.com), all I get
is a black page instead of the web page. The Internet
Explorer banners still exist at the top and bottom but the
content of the page is black. It seems like the hyperlinks
are still there as I can move my pointer around and see
the addressess but once the "black screen" has occurred,
I'm stuck with it unless I close and relaunch Explorer.
